Updated Vintage Hollywood: Expertise and Passion Make a Difference
We began working with Stephen and John, the eventual buyers of this property on Creston Dr, about a year after they had relocated from New York City, temporarily residing in a Los Feliz rental. They sought a home in the Hollywood Hills, west to east, with a view, and unlike most buyers, wanted a fixer-upper. This home had been owned by a Hollywood set-designer for about 60 years. It, along with each of its 2 neighbors, were originally built in the late 1920s by one of the studios to serve as “temporary” housing for movie stars. This explains the design of the houses — huge vaulted Living Room, Dining Room for major dinner parties, and just two big Bedrooms upstairs. But plenty of DRAMA!
The house needed a major rehab, which we helped them with. It was a true pleasure, in part, because Stephen and John have impeccable taste. A favorite feature of the house, which we suggested to them, was a tiled pyramidal ceiling in the Kitchen. The whole house was redone — Kitchen, Baths, systems. They are intrepid, and turned a Hollywood antiquity into a grand house fit for today, without ruining any of its original style.
